The full report contains over 60 rankings, including „Largest IT companies in Poland”, which includes 333 entities with revenues of at least PLN 1 million from the sales of IT solutions and services. RITS Professional Services once again submitted to the survey and was ranked 24th among companies declaring 100% of revenues from sales of IT Services in the „Largest IT companies in Poland” list.

The numbers describing the Polish ICT sector in 2023

In 2023, the value of the ICT sector in Poland amounted to just over 107 billion PLN, representing a 5.1% year-on-year increase, according to this year’s report. The year 2022 closed with the market reaching over 100 billion PLN, marking the second consecutive year that the „hundred” threshold has been surpassed. The sector grew by 7% year-on-year.

Which sector of the economy absorbs the most IT solutions?

The top three positions remain unchanged. As in 2022, commerce ranks first as the sector consuming the most IT products and services. This sector brought ICT companies just over 4.5 billion PLN (4 billion PLN the previous year). Following closely is banking (nearly 4.5 billion PLN), with public administration, industry, and construction trailing behind. There has been a significant increase in the demand for IT in the education, science, and research sector, rising by as much as 50%.

What ICT forecasts for 2024?

What trends will have the strongest impact on the market in the coming months? Based on last year’s experience with the technological needs of Polish enterprises, respondents indicated that the following trends are most significant:

  • Artificial Intelligence, cited by 34% of respondents;
  • Cloud Computing, cited by 20%;
  • Generative AI, cited by 19%;
  • Automation and Robotic Process Automation (RPA), cited by 15%;
  • Low-code development, cited by 10%.

The sentiment within the industry is positive – 8 out of 10 companies assess next year’s ICT market outlook as either better or the same.
In response to the question of how the market outlook for your company will change in 2024, 55% of respondents predict an increase in order value from 5% to 24%, while 29% believe that the order value will not undergo significant changes.

Any issues in the ICT sector?

Staff shortages remain an unresolved issue in the ICT industry. According to respondents, these shortages are particularly evident in the development competency area. In this case, as many as 43% of companies experience staffing shortages and struggle to recruit employees. 26% of companies are looking for security specialists, 16% for operations and maintenance staff, and 15% for analysts.

The report’s authors point out that the challenging market situation in terms of acquiring employees has persisted for years, and the „technological granularity” and increasing specialization contribute to the widening skills gap. Companies providing IT staff leasing services have benefited from this situation, recording a 15% revenue increase last year.
