RITS Sailing Team closes the sailing season with a victory in the Tricity Sailing League

The RITS Sailing Team wrapped up the sailing season in impressive style, securing first place in the Tricity Sailing League. Making their debut in the Regional League, our team proved that determination and teamwork are the keys to success. The team's momentum held strong through the final rounds of the league, culminating in a well-deserved spot on the podium.

The road to victory

The Tricity Sailing League consists of four rounds of regattas held from June to August, where teams compete on the waters of Sopot and Gdynia. Each stage is a fierce battle, with teams not only racing against each other but also contending with unpredictable weather and changing water conditions. Racing on RS21 yachts, RITS Sailing Team demonstrated their skill from the start, but the real excitement unfolded in the final race.

The final rankings were exceptionally close. The top four teams were separated by just three points, highlighting the high level of competition in this year’s series. Our team displayed not only technical skill but also tremendous team spirit and perseverance, which ultimately led to a well-deserved victory. Following RITS Sailing Team on the podium were the Sosnowski & Friends team and Omida Logistics.

Our team competed in a consistent lineup on RS21 yachts with Jakub Jankowski (helmsman) and Jan Siekierzyński (mainsail trimmer/tactician), and at different stages, they were joined by Maksymilian Pawłowski, Mikołaj Zmirtowicz, Michał Gryglewski, Adam M. Cudny, and Katarzyna Goralska.

Regional League Finals in Szczecin

The success in the Tricity Sailing League earned the RITS Sailing Team a spot in the Regional League Finals, which are part of the Polish Sailing League. The best crews of the season, including our team, qualified for the national finals held on October 12-13 on the waters of Lake Dąbie in Szczecin.

The event brought together the top eighteen teams out of more than sixty that competed across five Regional Leagues. The goal was to fight for promotion to the First League of the Polish Sailing League for the 2025 season. Conditions on Lake Dąbie were challenging – low temperatures, rain, and strong gusts of wind reaching up to 30 knots posed a significant challenge for both sailors and their equipment.
After two days of intense competition and 23 races, the RITS Sailing Team finished in 8th place, a commendable result in such a strong field. Although we didn’t secure promotion to the First League, the result in our debut season is something we’re proud of. The victory in the finals and promotion went to the teams Jacht Klub Nowy Sztynort, The Barking Dogs, TEXET Poland Sailing Team, and SEN YACHTS Olsztyn.

„Although we finished the regional league finals in 8th place, our promotion was riding on the final race, which could have given us fourth place. When competing for a spot in the 1st league, sometimes you have to take risks. This time, it didn’t work out, and we didn’t finish the last race. However, we fought in great style throughout the regatta, giving our all at every moment – which is crucial in such a competitive field. We’ll come back stronger next year,” summarized Jakub Jankowski.
